Portrait of Kayla Kaiser

Kayla is an English and marketing teacher at an alternative high school in Kaysville, Utah, where she has spent the past six years supporting students who have faced barriers on their educational journeys. Kayla is passionate about alternative education, educational advocacy, and the connection between policy and classroom practice. Beyond her teaching role, she serves as a Regional Director for the National Alternative Education Association, a policy ambassador working with Utah legislators, and a board member for both her local and state teachers’ unions. Through her leadership and advocacy efforts, Kayla works to expand opportunities for underserved students, increase access to higher education, and support the development of a stronger framework for alternative education.

I enrolled in the MS in Education: Instructional Coaching program because I’ve always been drawn to educational psychology and I know this program will help me bridge the gap between administrators, teachers, and mental health professionals so we can better serve students who fall through the cracks – not just at my school but at the state level! I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the psychological frameworks behind how students learn and develop, and to build the research base I need to bridge those gaps. My goal is to leave this program with the tools to create more cohesive support systems for the students who need them most.
