McKenna is a third-grade teacher at a rural school in central Illinois, where she has been teaching for the past five years. Working in one of the smallest school districts in Illinois has presented unique challenges, and it has also provided meaningful opportunities to build strong, lasting relationships with her students. McKenna earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University in 2021.
